Pushing the limits of comfort food, this Elvis inspired banana pizza is fit for a king! With a peanut butter base, topped with mozzarella cheese, bacon and of course bananas. But thats not all, we drizzle a little honey on top of this beast after its been pulled out of the oven.
Show stopper or heart stopper…. or perhaps both, that still wont stop us though. The interesting part of this pizza challenge was that it had to be a banana pizza but it cannot be a dessert pizza. Surprisingly the savoury Elvis inspired banana pizza was a hit and now we can’t help but wonder what other great combinations can go with banana pizza, only time will tell.

Elvis inspired Banana Pizza
"Our pizza is weird and our dough is wild made from sourdough starter."
- BAKING STEEL
- PIZZA CUTTERS
- PIZZA PEEL
- ROLLING PIN
TOPPINGS
- 1 Banana
- 1 cup Bacon
- 2 cups Mozarella cheese
- 1 cup Peanut butter
- 2 tbsp Honey
SOURDOUGH PIZZA DOUGH
- 2 cups Sourdough starter
- 1 cup Bread flour
- 1 tsp Salt
SOURDOUGH PIZZA DOUGH (1 hour)
-
Make your dough by mixing the sourdough starter, salt and bread flour together (adding a bit of flour at a time until it takes shape)
-
Knead the dough for 30 seconds, flour lightly as needed or add a little water if it's too dry
-
Place the dough in a lightly floured bowl and cover with a towel, set aside for 1 hour (the baking steel or stone needs to preheat for 1 hour as well, so preheat oven to 550°F after you finish making your pizza dough)
PIZZA
-
Bake bacon in oven on parchment paper lined baking pan at 420 degrees F. for 15 minutes, then flip. Cook bacon an additional 5 minutes, or until cooked (make sure not to overcook it because it will be cooking in the oven for an additional 10 minutes on the pizza). Remove bacon and drain on paper towel lined plate
-
Preheat oven to 550°F with baking steel or pizza stone inside the oven for 30 minutes.
-
Set aside 1 cup of peanut butter and bing to room temp, approximately 30 minutes
-
Grate mozzarella cheese, peel and slice banana into ¼" rounds
-
Flour surface and roll out dough, flour lightly as needed. Put a floured pizza peel underneath the dough
-
Add peanut butter to pizza, then mozzarella, banana and bacon, then pat down toppings
-
Bake pizza in the oven at 550 ℉ for 8-10 minutes
-
Remove pizza from oven with pizza peel, let rest 5 minutes and drizzle with honey
-
Slice it up!
