Corn Pizza Recipe

This is our fourth official pizza challenge with many more to follow, brought to you by Weird Wild Corn Pizza RecipePizza, and frantically made by Papa Za. Today the challenger is “leftovermagic”! And the pizza challenge is a “Corn Pizza”

You heard correctly. A corn pizza recipe is this week’s pizza challenge. Who doesn’t love a good ol’ corn on the cob smothered in butter and salt? Well this is not that but we tried to get close. Lots of corny goodness and don’t worry, we didn’t forget the butter.

Not only is this a corn pizza but it’s a triple threat, with a butter cream corn as the base, corn kernels and baby corn. Plus mozzarella and parmesan cheese topped with fresh basil. This pizza is weird, and so it should be, the only question I have for you is, “how much do you like corn?” If you have a pizza challenge, well, challenge us, what are you waiting for?! Let’s make some weird wild pizza together!

  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese curds
  • 2 cups Mozzarella cheese grated
  • cup Poutine gravy instructions below*

WILD PIZZA DOUGH

  • 2 cups Sourdough starter active
  • 1 cup Bread flour
  • 1 tsp Salt

FRIES*

  • 3 large Potatoes
  • 1 tbsp Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ tsp Pepper

GRAVY*

  • ½ cup Chicken broth
  • ½ cup Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • ½ tsp Pepper

Instructions

WILD PIZZA DOUGH (1 hour)

  • Make your dough by mixing the sourdough starter, bread flour (adding a bit of flour at a time until it takes shape but is still a little sticky) and salt together. Knead the dough for 30 seconds, flour lightly as needed.
  • Place the wild dough in a lightly floured bowl and cover with a towel, set aside for 1 hour. (The pizza steel or stone needs to preheat for 1 hour as well, so preheat oven to 550°F after you finish making your pizza dough).

FRIES*

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Peel, rinse and slice potatoes into medium cut fries. Soak potatoes in a large bowl with cold water for 30 minutes, then strain, rinse and dry.

GRAVY*

  • On medium heat melt butter in large saucepan, careful not to burn. Add flour and whisk furiously for 30 seconds, still being careful not to burn. Add beef, chicken broth and pepper and whisk until smooth, cook until desired consistency. Remove from heat, let cool slightly and reserve 2 x ¾ cup of gravy.

PIZZA

  • Preheat oven to 550 degrees F° with baking steel or pizza stone inside the oven for 1 hour. (Since the oven is preheated from cooking the fries, just preheat until oven is 550°F)
  • Grate mozzarella cheese.
  • Flour surface and roll out the dough, flour lightly as needed. Put a floured pizza peel underneath the dough.
  • Add 1 x ¾ cup gravy, then mozzarella cheese, then fries and then cheese curds. Pat down toppings.
  • Bake pizza in the oven at 550° F. for 8-10 minutes.
  • Remove pizza from oven with pizza peel and let cool for 5 minutes. Top with remaining 1 x ¾ cup gravy. Slice it up!

REUBEN PIZZA RECIPE

This not-so-kosher Reuben pizza recipe is such a classic that it often gets confused with being part Reuben Pizza sliceof the delicatessen family. But ya can’t mix cheese and meat and hope nobody catches you, well you can when you’re here, we’re not the judgy type.

A homemade Russian dressing punches a pack and really ties this sandwich together. Layers of corned beef brisket, topped with the holiest of cheeses, Swiss, topped with some satisfying sauerkraut, followed by just a little more corned beef. But we diced up this layer of meat to get more crispy bits to crunch down on. What a delight this non-delicatessen beauty has to offer, grab a slice of deliciousness, we won’t tell anyone.
